Exile on Kettner 12/24 Set List

Exile on Kettner Blvd took place at The Casbah on Christmas Eve, with a packed house and a band that included Andre McKeag (Presidents of the U.S., Dirty Sweet etc.), Joe Guevera (Lady Dottie & The Diamonds), Marc Schroeder (The Loons), Paul Brewin (Ypsitucky, Drip Tank, Uncle Joe's Big Ol' Driver, Manual Scan), Rick Wilkins (The Outriders, The Nards), George Vidaurri (Uncle Joe's Big Ol' Driver), Jonny Viau (The Tighten Ups) - Guest singers included Kevin Ring (Manual Scan), Gary Shuffler (Ziggy Shuffledust), TJ Joseph  (Buckfast Superbee), Patric Dennis, Carissa Schroeder and more. Bart Mendoza sang four songs early in the first set plus played congas on one more:

 with a session from original Beatles drummer Pete Best.
 Recorded at Iacon Sound Studios, the session features Christopher Leyva and Falling Doves,
 with Greg Smith and Bart Mendoza* of True Stories on backing vocals and also *ambient guitar"

Wayne Riker Book "50 Years, 50 Bands, 50 Bucks"

Wayne Riker's book "50 Years, 50 Bands, 50 Bucks" has been reissued, in a slightly updated edition. The new version adds two pages detailing Riker receiving the 2017 San Diego Music Awards / Lifetime Achievement Award. He was inducted at the ceremony by Bart Mendoza, the book includes his introduction as well as a photo of both onstage at the House of Blues. The book also adds the poster image for Riker's award, designed by Mendoza.

Manual Scan January 28 at The Casbah / Gary Heffern's Farewell

San Diego music icon Gary Heffern, best known for his work with The Penetrators, will host his farewell concert at The Casbah on January 28. He will be backed by an all star band that will include
David Fleminger and Kevin Ring of Manual Scan
 alongside Cindy Lee Berryhill, Ray Brandes, David Doyle and Dylan Brown. 
Opening the show will be Manual Scan, The Executives and The Dils.

Discovered! The Shambles / Raspberries Preserved Japanese Edition 1997

Via Facebook: "Just found out about this! A Tribute to The Raspberries / "Preserved" was issued in the U.S. circa 1996 and apparently in Japan as well, soon after. It includes The Shambles version of "Might As Well." and it has a different cover to the U.S. version and includes an Obi-Strip" The album also features The Rubinoos, Bill Lloyd, Tiny Lights, Ken Sharp, Off Broadway, Scott McCarl, The Hang Ups and more.

Carlsbad, Calif. –  The ninth edition of Sounds Like San Diego takes place at the Museum of Making Music on November 2. Featuring today’s artists performing hits made famous by past San Diego based hitmakers 1955- today, the all ages event is hosted by music historian Bart Mendoza. Sounds Like San Diego mixes details about the tunes and artists, with terrific renditions of songs that might include tunes by The Cascades, Iron Butterfly, Jim Croce, Jack Tempchin, David Gates, Ratt, The Monroes, The Beat Farmers, Stephen Bishop, Jason Mraz, Blink 182, Jewel and more -
