Condolences to the family and friends of guitarist Ritchie "Rooster" Brubaker, who passed away on August 31. He was an integral part of Manual Scan during the mid 1980's. A longtime close friend of the band, he and Kevin were co-workers at legendary music shop, Guitar Trader. Ritchie's own group, The Roosters, already an institution at the time, were an early inspiration and in fact, Manual Scan's first gig was opening for the Roosters at the London Tavern in downtown San Diego on July 4, 1981. In the mid 1980's he concurrently began several seasons of adventures with Manual Scan, which included shows across the Southland, from Huntington Beach to Las Vegas.
Ritchie contributed to Manual Scan's 1986 album, Down Lights (aka "1" in the U.K.), where he can be heard on the songs: "And We Still Feel The Same," "For Those," "Ever Any Reason," "Yesterday's Gone," "I Want To Hold Your Hand," "Confidence & Love," "Man About Town," "Don't Know Where To Start," "Shape Of Things," "Delve Into Everything" and "The Bird." The Manual Scan compilation, Plan of Action / The Best of Manual Scan 1980 -1992, from Spain's SNAP Records, also features a bonus track featuring Ritchie, "Gloria (Live at Club Zu)." There are probably a few others out there as well.
Ritchie was a great friend and a great talent, he will be missed
