Staring at the Sun XIII will be issued September 30 with a special album release show at The Casbah! This edition comes in a six panel fold out sleeve with exclusive artwork from comics legend Scott Shaw!, featuring 47 tracks on two discs! The album includes long time favorites like jazz guitarist Wayne Riker, new wave rockers The Monroes, cumbia-billy quintet The Sleepwalkers, punk legends The Dinettes, surf trio Alvino & The Dwells and rockers Falling Dove with drummer Pete Best. Yes, that Pete Best. Newcomers include powerpop singer/songwriter Tamar Berk, alternative rockers Evening's Empire, prog guitarist Nathan Raney, and dream pop rock combo Sorry It's Over. Plus The Spice Pistols, Electric Mud, Mittens, The Skyler Lutes Band, Patrick Yandall, Evan Diamond, Roni Lee (Venus & The Razorblades), Sometimes Julie and John January. Then there's radio ID's from Mojo Nixon, Manual Scan, Satanic Puppeteer Orchestra and Pony Death Ride. And lots more, 47 tracks in all!
The September 30 album release show will be hosted by Hairy Scary Spice (The Spice Pistols) and Bart Mendoza (Manual Scan), with the bill topped by Nathan Raney, also celebrating the release of his solo album, Season of Serenity. Meanwhile Evening's Empire and Tamar Berk open the night, with more special guests TBA. Door at 8 p.m. 21 and up.
