On September 12, 2010 Iron Butterfly received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the San Diego Music Awards at Humphrey's Concerts by the Bay. On hand to receive the award were bassist Lee Dorman, original drummer Jack Pinney, and Doug Ingle Jr., son of keyboardist Doug Ingle. The award was given out by the Mayor of San Diego, Jerry Sanders. Bart Mendoza has been a part of the San Diego Music Awards for over 20 years and took part in a pre-show interview with Dorman and DJ Tim Pyles for 91X-FM.
