The annual Exile on Kettner Blvd Christmas Eve show at San Diego's legendary Casbah nightspot, was an all-star event helmed by Andrew Mckeag (Presidents of the United States), which included members of Uncle Joe's Big Ol' Driver, Miniaturized, Schizophonics, Geezer, Lady Dottie & The Diamonds, The Tighten Ups and The Nephews as well as Ariel Levine, Casey Hensley and Robert Lopez (El Vez). Notably the band included Kevin Ring and Paul Brewin of Manual Scan, with Bart Mendoza singing "Route 66" and "The Last Time" at the opening of the night. Here's a look at the night's set list

Exile on Kettner: An All-Star Rolling Stones Christmas Eve Tribute at The Casbah!

Original Manual Scan members Bart Mendoza, Kevin Ring and Paul Brewin will be part of this year's Exile on Kettner Christmas Eve show at The Casbah. The free event will highlight the Rolling Stones Let It Bleed album, plus several sets of hits, led by guitarist Andrew McKeag!
                                         

Teenage Fanclub Tribute! "What You Do To Me"

Adam Gimbel organized a tribute to the band Teenage Fanclub on December 20 at the Kensington Club in San Diego that featured  a 4 different combos in one format playing the entire Bandwagonesque album. Bart Mendoza was part of the group, Star Signs, which included Gimbel, guitarist Dylan Martinez (Geezer, Static Halo) and drummer Victor Penalosa (Flamin' Groovies, The Shambles) and sang the song, "What You Do To Me."

Jeff Berkley & The Banned Cover The Shambles - Free Download!

Multiple SDMA winning artists, Jeff Berkley & The Banned are releasing a different cover song originally by a San Diego artist that has influenced and inspired the band along the way. 

Kicking off the series on December 7 will be thier new version of “I Can’t Don’t Want To Faster,” originally by The Shambles (1995, from the Original Tangent EP). The song was recorded as a demo by Manual Scan, though it didn't make it to vinyl until The Shambles version.

A free download of the song is available this week via Berkley’s website below. Other artists being covered are The Beat Farmers, The Rugburns and Tom Waits.

It was announced on November 8 that Bart Mendoza will be inducted into the 2025 San Diego Music Hall of Fame. He was surprised by event organizer Jefferson Jay at the 2024 ceremonies.
